Why work at Medsphere
Medsphere is always on the lookout for intelligent, experienced, high-energy, collaborative professionals to join our team.
Once you come to visit, you'll see that Medsphereans are a unique and diverse group with roots all over the U.S. and the world. We do, however, have a few things in common:
We are committed to partnering with other healthcare and IT professionals—here and at our customer sites—to make a high-end, open-source electronic health record a reality for customers around the country. Our goal is to ultimately impact, for the better, the health and welfare of millions of Americans. Those of us already on board are now seeing the fruits of our labor in terms of increased patient safety and quality at implemented OpenVista customer sites—not to mention reduced operating expenses and increased revenue, and a record of almost 100% clinician EHR adoption that is helping to put these healthcare organizations well on the road to "meaningful (EHR) use" in time to benefit from landmark federal ARRA stimulus funds.
Another thing we share is a predilection for hard work leavened with a strong sense of humor and an ability to be nimble and be quick. In other words, we have to be serious to be able to achieve some very serious and heady objectives but we also enjoy a relaxed and decidedly non-corporate corporate culture. Click here for a video that wryly details the history of the Medsphere Stimulus 1 bus that debuted at HIMSS 2009 in Chicago and symbolizes our position as a force actively seeking to disrupt business as usual in the health IT world.
And those of us who work at headquarters in Carlsbad, Calif.—some of us work remote—generally share a preference for sunshine and mild weather; some also share a passion for surfing! So while you're busy perusing our job ads and perhaps combating the ill effects of cold, rain, snow, heat, humidity, cockroaches the size of Texas, alligators who won't stay put or other phenomena rare in southern California, Medsphereans are likely enjoying another boringly sunshiney day. But be forewarned: extreme temperature fluctuations can really make your head spin—73.6° on average in August to a low of 44.8° on average in December (and that's after the sun goes down). In January, our wettest month, average rainfall is 2.42 inches, so Seattle this isn't.
Another good reason to work here is that Carlsbad has a lot going on—particularly for a city this small, this safe. "Karls-bad" is German for "Charles' watering place," and this coastal North San
Diego County city is known for nurturing technology innovation—in the form of
biotech, medical technology and other tech companies—as well as mind, body and
soul—in the form of outstanding health resorts and spas. For those with kids, or still a kid at heart, we are four minutes from Legoland, two minutes
from the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch
and the Carlsbad Premium Outlets and a short drive to such area attractions as the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park. Disneyland is just an hour's drive north in Orange County.
